Incorporating the Former Integrated Computational Materials Engineering Community of Materials Technology@TMS
Posted on:
8/15/2008...
As materials science and engineering expands to encompass new technologies, such as nanomaterials, biomaterials, and computational tools, TMS seeks to provide an environment where these new fields can develop and flourish. The Emerging Materials Technologies Community of Materials Technology@TMS provides a place where industrial leaders, educators, and national laboratory researchers can meet to learn about the newest developments in cutting-edge materials fields, share valuable resources with one another, and develop an on-line community to which they can turn for answers, encouragement, and technical aid.
For those who regularly visited the Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) community of Materials Technology@TMS in the past, the Emerging Materials Technologies community will continue to support the development of this growing field. This site includes all the resources from the former ICME community, but is also expanding to include a number of other technologies in areas such as advanced materials, advanced processing, biomaterials, composites, electronic materials, intermetallics, modeling and simulation, nanotechnology, and superconductivity.
This on-line technical community is enhanced by user contributions and user participation. It is meant to be a place where scientists and engineers can meet to discuss their work, solicit ideas from others in the field, stay up-to-date with news from their interest areas, and access resources to help them in their work.
In the "Community Resources" box in the upper right corner of this page, you'll find links to publications and conferences in the emerging materials community, as well as downloadable digital resources on ICME. The "Latest Postings" box to the right is an entry point to the community discussion area and provides a glimpse of the topics currently being discussed. All of these resources can be viewed and downloaded by all web users free of charge. To participate in discussions or to post your own resources to the site, simply create a free registration through the "New User?" link in the above toolbar. TMS members can use their member log in to participate in the site.
In the future, this introductory page will be updated monthly with feature stories that provide insight into new developments and activities related to a broad range of emerging materials technologies. If you are engaged in work or research that you would like to share with the materials community, submit a 1-2 page overview, detailing the significance of your research results to the editorial staff of TMS for publication consideration in this space. In addition, the "News" tab above will provide regular news headlines from all aspects of the emerging materials community.
For other recent spotlight stories, please visit the Archive tab.
