Resources from TMS 2012 Offer Insights into Preparing for TMS 2013 |
Posted on: 7/10/2012 12:00:00 AM... The deadline for submitting abstracts to any of the 65 symposia slated for the TMS 2013 Annual Meeting and Exhibition, March 3 through 7 in San Antonio, Texas, is July 31.
Abstracts are being accepted for consideration via ProgramMaster at this link.
Last year’s event featured a record-breaking 3102 presentations and the largest attendance of the millennium. Since San Antonio is the location of the highest attendance for any TMS Annual Meeting, TMS 2013 is on track to offer an exceptional learning and networking opportunity.
TMS has posted summaries of a few of the symposia offered in 2012, submitted by the organizers, on the TMS Materials Education Digital Resource Center as a means of offering a glimpse into potential content for TMS 2013. The summaries can be accessed at the following links:
TMS is also offering online access to the case study presentations offered at the TMS 2012 Special Plenary, "Reaching New Heights: Materials Innovation in the Aerospace Industry.” The panelists and their presentations available for viewing are:
- ”The Materials Genome Initiative”: James Warren, leader, Thermodynamics and Kinetics Group, Metallurgy Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology and advisor to the director on the Materials Genome
- ”ICME: Promise and Future Directions”: Robert E. Schafrik, general manager, Materials and Process Engineering Department, GE Aviation
- ”Lessons Learned from the Trenches and Implications on ICME and the MGI”: Charles Kuehmann, president and chief executive officer, QuesTek Innovations LLC
- ”Enabling the Era of Hybrid Materials—A Tipping Point of Change": Rick Barto, program manager, Advanced Technology Laboratory, Lockheed Martin Corporation
